Final

The whole year was fun, most of the time, and I enjoyed it and looked forward to coming in here everyday. Some things were hard to follow if I didn’t understand what we were going over, but having a book in front of me helped me along. Excel was not my most favorite…. but Word and PowerPoint were definitely my favorite. Search skills were okay for me, not the best. And most other things I could follow along to pretty well. The blogging was okay, but once again, not my favorite. I’m not that good at figuring out technology so some things were hard for me to write about. Overall, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be.

The window systems I’ve worked with are Windows 7 and Windows XP and Windows 98. The two major weaknesses of Windows is the reliability and security. I have not seen Windows 8 other than what I saw on the video. It is different because it have more upgraded features. Some different and or new features are standard apps, picture passwords, and file history. My opinion is that if I had the option between Windows 8 or a less updated one, I wouldn’t choose Windows 8 because it seems too advanced and too confusing. Both of the operating systems feature multiple rectangular work areas to reflect multitasking capabilities, and they provide basic networking services. A weaknesses of the Mac OS is limited selection of software and its use of resource forks. No I have not used this operating system.

On my iPod I have the IOS, and on my phone, and on my phone its Android OS. Comparing the Android OS and IOS, the Android OS is an open source operating system developed by Google and designed for mobile devices, such as smartphones and netbooks. IOS is a version of Mac OS X written for the iPhone’s ARM processor and optimized for touch-screen communications applications. What I have read is that Android OS is better that iOS, because of the bugs and glitches.

Input and Output

An HDMI cord is used for connecting a monitor to a desktop computer, and for connecting an external monitor to a notebook computer. The HDMI is better because it does everything that the VGA does all together, and they have better quality.

BSod stands for Blue Screen of Death. It is the half-humorous name for the stop screen in Microsoft Windows operating systems. The nickname might be humorous, but the BSOD isn’t. If you get this screen, there has been a major problem with your computer and the operating system has crashed.

Some things you can do to prevent your computer from being stolen are the following:

Never leave your portable  computer unattended, especially when you are at a coffee shop, the library, or the airport. If you have to leave your portable computer in the car,  never leave it in plain view. Lock it up in the trunk or cover it up. Carry your portable computer in an inconspicuous carrying case. Record your portable computer’s make, model, and serial number and store them away from the computer. Many recovered computers cannot be returned to their owners because this tracking information is not supplied to police. Consider securing your portable computer with an anti-theft device.

Storage

The types of solid storage I use are flash drives, occasionally, and memory cards for cameras. The cloud storage I use is my google drive and icloud. I like the cloud storage so I don’t have to carry any sort of storage device around with me and download it or save it to the computers. With the cloud storage anyone can log onto any computer and get to their stuff. I don’t think solid storage will ever completely disappear, because there is still a lot of use for it. For example, photographers use memory cards in their cameras, and if technology advances, they’ll have to upgrade to that, but some may stay with the ones they have, because they still probably work fine. And they wouldn’t have to spend money on new equipment when they have perfectly good equipment already.

The flash drive I choose was A Sandisk- Cruzer 16 GB. It is from Best Buy. The reason I choose it was because the reviews said it was really easy to use.

Passwords

Something I extended my knowledge on is that vybercriniamla can rack up bill using your credit card, applying for a mortgage using your financial data, creating fake accounts in your name, sending embarrassing e-mails, ir wreak havoc on your bank account.

To create a secure password, you should not get an everyday common word that anyone could guess. And also you shouldn’t use the name of your pets or any family member, or an important date like your birth, your wedding, high school graduation, etc…… You should try and make it difficult and make it like a code like taking the first letter of words and making them all into one word, then using numbers and symbols and upper case and lower case letters.

None of my passwords were on the list of commonly used passwords.

To make my own passwords secures I would use numbers, uppercase and lowercase letters, and they are long passwords.

I don’t thinks my passwords need to be changed, because I only have two passwords for everything, but the two I use are always different using different capitalization and numbers.

FACTS ABOUT ILLEGAL DOWNLOADING

My opinion is the same and always will be. Illegally downloading music is wrong and anyone that does it should be punished harshly.

In the article I found (link) Distribution of copyright materials is punishable by law. You could spend up to five years in jail and be fined and charged up to $150,000 per file.

I think this is all fair, because downloading songs illegally is wrong and should not be done. If you don’t want to get in trouble, pay what you should for your songs, because how much you have to pay legally for a song is much less than what you’d have to pay for illegally downloading songs.

Digital Devices

The digital devices I use and or own on a daily basis is my cell phone, a fifth generation Ipod touch, my chromebook, and the desktops at school. They help me with my school work, and I can always check the weather whenever I need to, and I can always check the social media. The game counsels we have are Nintendo DS’s, a Wii, and an X-box. I would say yes to them being a personal computer, because you can access the internet from the counsels we have.

The MacBook Pro is thin, light, and powerful. Also, the retina display is outstanding in it. You can edit picture very easily with clarity. And then it has better apps.

Piracy and Convergence

Illegally downloading music, games, movies, etc… is not a good thing when you can just go down and buy something when it’s probably not even that expensive and you minimize the risk of being caught and fined. On peer to peer file sharing, you should just pay for what you want instead of getting it by someone else when you shouldn’t be. There is nothing wrong with open source software, because it’s free and people can use them for educational needs. Some are like this, WordPress, Firefox, Facebook, and Google Chrome. My favorite type of convergence is my cell phone. The functions I use are my camera, my Facebook, the calender on it , music, email, and many other apps I use on a daily basis.
